getting organized...

on my Christmas wishlist, i asked for "moleskines". no one in my family knew what those were (or most of the other things i had on the list:Yudu, ICE resin, claybords (ampersand),little rusty or colorful bits of things as always, "digital ground" for printing on fabric, organza, stitchwitchery, metal alphabet stamping set, metal "blanks", alcohol inks, liver of sulfur, mica...Which they made fun of me profusely for, haha ;)
however, they obliged me, and i now have 7 of them PLUS a monthly color-coded day planner (jason counts that as 12 more when he makes fun of me). in case you don't know, moleskines are AMAZING little books. they have journals/lined notebooks, sketchbooks, calendars, etc. and i have some of each! and i am DETERMINED to get organized! i feel so often like my days slip away without knowing really what i did or whether i was really experiencing the moments of the day or not. i get so discouraged when things pile up and i'm not getting ANYthing done - not keeping up with the housework, art, reading, time with God, and just spending all my time trying to "keep up" (especially with joey, my main time-and-energy-consumer).

i shall be frustrated no more, i say!

so, i dedicated each of my new moleskines to something that i need to write or create or plan and i am so excited about it! i had looked up last year "how to organize recipes" because my system wasn't working out for me; and the first one i read said they put all their tried-and-true recipes in a moleskine with tabs for dividers. ooh! so exciting! i've started transferring them into the awesome orange book, and throwing away all those little slips of paper i've hastily written them down on from over the phone or whatever.
and i'm recording my thoughts about art, ideas i want to try, and yes, even some POETRY in one (thanks, kimmy for the art books you gave me - they're showing me how :).
then there's the one i'm collaging & painting stuff in - my "visual art journal" - also have a mini one of these that goes everywhere with me in my purse.
also in my purse come my little moustache one that is dedicated to observations about jason (trying to "be a student of my spouse" as i've heard so many times :), and the little tiny blue one (jason got me both of these on etsy :) that i'm recording the moments i don't want to forget - "what joey's doing right now"
and... last but not least... the most organizationally exciting one... the monthly planner(s)!! so pretty :) and so helpful... i'm always jealous when everyone pulls out their dayplanner, and i'm like "i only have like one thing scheduled every other week - why do i need one... wish i had one" ;) but i do need to write lists and plans down, even if it's not an "official" event, just to stay on top of things! and i am lovin' it. (today "blog" is on my list - hence the reason i'm finally doing it for the first time since august!)

aren't they pretty?

first few pages in my visual art journal...

so, look forward to more blog entries this year, and i'll look forward to a more organized life! :)
